La prima fase del format prevede un contest indipendente (BeDifferent Art Price) legato a un Road Show estivo itinerante, che stazionerà in diverse piazze nelle più belle città italiane. L’evento ha luogo a bordo di un double-decker, il tipico bus inglese rosso a due piani eccezionalmente adibito a galleria d’arte.
The format involves an independent contest (BeDifferent Art Price) linked to a traveling summer road show (BeDifferent Road Show), which will take place in the most beautiful Italian cities on board of a double-decker, the classic vintage english red bus, exceptionally transformed into an art gallery.
La selezione avviene tramite call for artists direttamente sul sito BDifferent e, specificatamente per la sezione BeDifferent Art School, nelle principali scuole e istituti d’arte sul territorio del comune ospitante.
The selection is through a call for artists on this site and / or through the main art schools and institutes (specifically for the BeDifferent Art School section).
Perché è diverso?
Non capita tutti i giorni di esporre le proprie opere su un bus inglese a due piani. Basterebbe già questo per essere fuori dal coro.
Ma è il criterio espositivo a fare davvero la differenza: le opere vengono esposte in proiezione su più schermi a rotazione programmata, per consentire visibilità anche a quelle di grandi dimensioni o comunque non allestibili in forme tradizionali. L’utilizzo degli schermi consente inoltre di programmare l’esposizione non come la “classica” collettiva, ma come una serie consecutiva di personali, dedicando TUTTI i monitor a disposizione per ogni singolo artista in slot temporali definiti.
Si tratta di una modalità espositiva e di fruizione totalmente nuova, che finora non ha precedenti riscontrabili. Allo scadere di ogni slot temporale, il visitatore vede cambiare all’improvviso e all’unisono tutti i monitor di cui è circondato e si ritrova immerso all’istante in una “personale” del tutto diversa.
It does not happen every day to exhibit on a vintage English bus. This is already a good reason to make it “out of the chorus”.
But the operating modes are what really makes a difference: the artworks are projected on multiple programmed screens, in order to ensure visibility even to the largest artworks and /or to those artworks that can not be set up in traditional mode.
The use of screens also let the audience experience the exhibition not as a collective, but as a consecutive series of “personali”, reserving all monitors to all artist, one by one in a defined slot of time. At the expiration of each time slot, all the monitors suddenly change in sync, and the visitors find themselves immersed in a completely different “personal”.
Il primo piano del bus sarà dedicato agli studenti degli istituti e scuole d’arte della città ospitante che avranno l’opportunità di esporre fisicamente le loro opere, compatibilmente allo spazio (BeDifferent Art School).
Il secondo piano sarà invece riservato agli artisti che avranno proposto la loro candidatura online, i quali allestiranno con la formula della personale programmata su monitor senza limiti di spazio.
The first floor of the bus is reserved to the art schools and institutes who reside in the cities hosting the RoadShow. Students will have the opportunity to exhibit their works physically, if compatible with space (BeDifferent Art School).
The second floor is reserved to the artists who submit their application online. They will exhibit their works on maxi-screen without limits of space.
Il RoadShow avrà luogo precedentemente all’Art Show di Venezia, ogni due anni.
Per candidarsi, occorre utilizzare il form di partecipazione online.
The RoadShow will take place before the Art Show in Venice, every two years.
